AUGUST EDITION
W\ Michael F. Estrada (Master) R\ W\ Martin Dashevsky (Secretary) 67-30 164th Street Apt. 6G 93 Plymouth Road Flushing,NY 11365 Plainview, NY 11803-2709 (H) 718-591-0336 (H) 516-433-6123 (C) 917-848-1580 (C) 516-717-9366 E-mail: mestrada645@yahoo.com E-mail: carmar6123@verizon.netFrom The East: Dear Brethren: The Harry S Truman picnic was a huge success and one of our largest turnouts ever. The weather was a perfect 84 degrees with a slight breeze and the pool was a warm 80 degrees. Brilliant sunshine with few clouds completed the recipe to put together a stellar event. Of course, when we coordinate an event of this size, we remember that we stand upon the shoulders of giants. Brothers like past chairman R\ W\ George Dondero Jr. and W\ Arthur Kessler gave us the foundation upon which to build a great event and I thank them for their participation and advice. Our picnic chairman, Brother Frank Melita did an outstanding job again. The picnic committee executed a flawless program, special thanks to Brother Stephen Siegel at horseshoes, Brother Robert Callahan Jr. for the childrens games, Brother Tony Pecorella for the Ladies Bingo and Brother Matt Donovan for filling in everywhere. Even our Past Master Michael Siegel pitched in at the Italian Ices. Our secret weapon, Joes Cajun Kitchen, is to be thanked for some wonderful food. Thank you, R\ W\ Joseph N. Mandel, Brothers William Gambrell and Joe Solano for the gastric delights. Ive included pictures at the end of this communication and you can also log onto www.HST1066.com for all pictures taken at this wonderful event. If you werent there, you truly missed a great time.
Harry S Truman Foundation: CORRECTION. In the July edition I wrote that a donation of $25.00 or more would qualify for a Grand Masters Brotherhood fund credit. The minimum is actually $50.00. I apologize for that mistake. The $50.00 minimum reflects the Donor rate that was applied in our Journal ads. I am in the process of printing the letters for our fundraiser and they will be mailed within days. Charity begins at home and your home is Harry S Truman Lodge. I ask ALL BROTHERS to respond to my request and to be as generous as possible. Along with the Grand Masters Brotherhood Fund, the Foundation donates to other Grand Lodge charities like the Masonic Medical Research Laboratory and Camp Turk. The Foundation also donated to Temple Post Masonic War Veterans and Operation Safe Helmut for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The list doesnt end there and as a member you may write the Foundation to consider your favorite charity. Please bear in mind that the Foundations effectiveness is only as great as the response we receive from you and I thank all of you who have done so much in our past fund raising. May the Great Architect protect the men and woman of our armed services and return them home soon. May He also bless and keep healthy you and your family. With warm regards, Brother Michael F. Estrada

On Thursday, December 7, 2006 we will have a Table Lodge. Unlike the Festive Board, this is a tyled event and can be attended by Masons only. The cost is the same as last years Festive Board, $15.00 per plate. I ask that if youre planning to attend, the courtesy of your R.S.V.P. is needed. We are also planning a Ladies Night for the spring of 2007. As soon as I get the information, I will pass it on to you. Our web-site is up and running. You can visit it and save the address to your favorite places in your explorer or internet provider. The web address is www.HST1066.com and you can email HarrySTruman1066@aol.com. The site has all the "bells and whistles" you would expect with links to the Grand Lodge and the Livingston Library. There is also a Harry S Truman memorabilia page and history page. You can download applications for membership and read current or past communications as well as flyers and notices to other District or Grand Lodge events. Any contributions of pictures, historical facts or Masonic information will be accepted by our Web Master. You may also send the same to me for our electronic communication to mestrada645@yahoo.com. I would like to thank our Web Master, Brother Theodore H. Jacobsen for his hard work and the fantastic job he has done. St. Johns Weekend: I have received a letter from our District President and Staff Officer, R\ W\ Larry N. Barnard. His letter reads that all that attended St. Johns weekend up in Utica had a great time and particularly enjoyed staying at the Radisson Hotel (I know I did). Apparently many who attended expressed a desire to do the pilgrimage again next year in 2007. Traditionally, the Eight Masonic District only attends St. Johns weekends when the new Grand Master, Grand Line Officers, District Deputy Grand Masters and Staff Officers are installed which wouldnt be the case until 2008. R\ W\ Barnard states that this topic will be discussed at the September 11, 2006 District meeting. If you are interested in going to Utica next June, 2007, you can discuss this with me or R\ W\ Barnard. Personally, I was very impressed with the trip. The hotel Radisson was very comfortable with a swimming pool and Jacuzzi located inside. I traveled with my wife and three children and the room accommodated us well. If you havent been to Utica and toured the grounds and buildings, I would definitely recommend taking the time to do so. Besides being educational in the Masonic sense, it was great to spend time with my Brothers and get to know their families. My children had a great time up there as well.
