From the East:
My Brothers,
As we near the thanksgiving holiday, I would like to wish you all a great holiday. If this finds you after the holiday, hope all was well!
We will be installing the Lights of Love at Ronald McDonald house, (Long Island Jewish Hospital) on December 1 at 9:00 am. Many of us will meet at the dinner on the corner of Union Typk, and Lakeville Rd after 8:00am. Bagels and coffee will be available at the site.
Our next meeting will be that of our Festive Board. This event is designed for two purposes, one is for brothers to break bread together, and the other is to have others who have the qualities, but not the degrees to participate in the first purpose. We will also be presenting our AGL, R.'.W.'. Joseph N. Mandel a plaque for his dedication to the 8th Manhattan district association. This Plaque will be mounted in room 931, along with the many plaques awarded to his distinguished predecessors. Join us for this award, and the festivities.
The District Deputies Association will be hosting their Annual Children's Holiday Party on December 15. Please download the flier, the event is open to all children and grandchildren of Masons. Parking is plentiful, driving to the site is easy.
We were able to bring four men into our fraternity last evening, Joseph A. Ascolesi, Patrick J. Bahnken ,Michael J. O'Shaughnessy, Francis C. Scholz. Bro. Jonathan Patrick, our JW, was the degree Master, and performed a great first degree. I would like to thank all the officers who were part of the degree work for their exceptional work. Special thanks to Bro. Keith Morris, who performed the working tools. I believe that this is his first work on the floor of the Lodge, and if so, we will have another ritualist in the works. Bro. Lenny Gotlieb and Stanford Gottesman performed the Q&A, along with Bro. Carl Lentoni and Steve Lavasz who orated the Whys & Wherefores. If these Brothers are the future of Harry S Truman Lodge, there will be a bright future for this lodge and our fraternity! Special thanks to R.'.W.'. Elliot Saron for performing the Historical lecture, what can I say, it was word perfect.
We had a guest, one of our many Snow Birds, R.'.W.'. Nat Savlowitz attended and performed a part in the degree work. Once again we had the pleasure of our Past Jr Master, W Mike Estrada who traveled from Virginia to participate in the degree work. This is the fervency that is needed in the fraternity. The more you participate, the more you want too! It has been my experience that there is far more pleasure to be had in creating the event, then just attending.
We will have two additional degrees in the ensuing year. One will be a second, and the second will be a third. If YOU are interested in degree work, or an explanation of the past statement, please feel free to contact me at masterhst1066@aol.com. I will assist you in picking work and a mentor. Non of our ritual can be learned over night, but given a few lines a day over a long period of time, there are a few months to learn your work, and brothers there is no shortage of work to learn.
Fraternally, W.'.Anthony Pecorella
